School Security Officer
SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and vigilant individual to join our team as a School Security Officer at Orange County High. This full-time position is essential in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will possess strong observational skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to respond effectively to various situations.Responsibilities- Monitor and patrol school premises to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and property.- Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and alarms, following established protocols to manage situations effectively.- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and facilities to identify and address potential security risks.- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.- Enforce school policies and regulations, addressing any violations in a fair and professional manner.- Provide support and assistance to students and staff, fostering a positive and secure school environment.- Prepare detailed reports of incidents, observations, and actions taken, maintaining accurate records for reference.- Assist in the development and implementation of safety plans and emergency response procedures.- Participate in training and professional development to stay current on best practices in school security.- Engage with the school community to promote awareness of safety issues and encourage a culture of vigilance.Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in security, law enforcement, or related fields is preferred.- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related role is highly desirable.- Strong observational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.- Knowledge of safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and conflict resolution techniques.- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and/or other emergency response training is a plus.- Must pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
