Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist-Contract Position-Bilingual preferred
Are you looking for a position where you can work as part of a team to help families learn to support their child's development? The Early Steps Program supports families and infants and toddlers with developmental delays, building competence and confidence of parents and caregivers to support their child's development. As an Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist (ITDS) you will work with a team of professionals to deliver early intervention services to families in their natural environment. Children birth to three years of age with developmental delays can qualify for this program and there are no income eligibility requirements. We are looking for a passionate person to join our team.
This position is a contracted position. We require a minimum of 16 hours a week. A contracted provider is responsible for billing their services directly to Medicaid or Early Steps. Provider is paid by Medicaid or Early steps per session. Reimbursement is $50/session.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The ITDS works primarily with parents and caregivers coaching them to support their child's development. An extensive knowledge of child development is required, and knowledge of adult learning and coaching is preferred. New ITDS providers will be supported by a mentor, and with on-going professional development using the statewide Florida Embedded Practices and interventions with caregivers (FL-EPIC) professional development program.
Qualifications and Skills and Experience:
Candidate must have a bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education, early childhood/special education, child and family development, family life specialist, communication sciences, social work, or psychology, and a minimum of 1 year experience working hands on with children, birth to 5 years old, with disabilities or developmental delays, and in extensive knowledge of early childhood development.
Candidate may have a closely related bachelor's degree, or higher, and a minimum of 5 years' experience working hands on with children, ages birth to 5 years old, with disabilities or developmental delays, and an extensive knowledge of early childhood development.
Candidate must be able to work as a team member and to communicate effectively with people. Services are delivered in the child's natural environment, so a valid driver's license and use of your own car is required (Mileage is reimbursed). For this position we are looking for a dedicated candidate who is willing to learn new skills and specific coaching strategies. ITDS must complete 6 online modules to obtain an ITDS certificate. Other training modules will also be required (3 orientation modules, 8 child outcome summary modules, and 3 IFSP outcome modules).
Locations:
Immediate need in North Sarasota.
Contracted ITDS positions may also be available in the following areas: Manatee County (Manatee north, east, central and west), Sarasota County (North, Central and North Port), Charlotte, Desoto, and Highlands/Hardee counties.
