General Superintendent Civil - Primoris Energy Services
Position OverviewWe’re looking for a General Superintendent to take the lead on all civil construction activities across our large industrial and power generation projects. You bring deep experience in heavy industrial construction—including simple-cycle and combined-cycle facilities—with specialized expertise in concrete finishing, formwork, reinforcing steel, excavation, and foundations for rotating equipment.You’ll be the driving force behind safe, on-schedule, and on-budget execution, working hand-in-hand with project leadership and every discipline on site.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise all civil craft personnel, foremen, general foremen, and superintendents on sitePlan, schedule, and coordinate all civil construction activities aligned with the project scheduleOversee and coordinate: – Excavation and underground work – Structural and equipment foundations – Concrete placement and finishing – Formwork and carpentry operations – Reinforcing steel installation – Anchor bolt setting and embedment installation – Equipment pad and rotating equipment foundation constructionEnsure proper installation and verification of complex anchor bolt patterns, templates, and embedments for turbines, generators, pumps, and other critical rotating equipmentCoordinate with project management, engineering, survey, quality, safety, and other craft disciplinesEnsure compliance with all safety policies and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and site-specific rulesConduct daily job briefings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planningMonitor productivity, manpower loading, equipment utilization, and material usage—adjusting plans to meet milestonesReview drawings, specifications, civil details, and work packages for proper executionInterface with inspectors, client representatives, survey teams, and vendorsIdentify and resolve field issues, constructability concerns, and work conflictsEnforce quality control standards, dimensional tolerances, and inspection requirements for concrete and embedded itemsSupport equipment setting, alignment activities, and turnover requirementsQualificationsRequired10–15 years of experience in heavy civil or industrial construction, including direct power generation workProven experience on large industrial, simple-cycle, and combined-cycle power projectsStrong hands-on and supervisory experience with: – Excavation and underground utilities – Concrete foundations and structural concrete – Concrete finishing and formwork systems – Reinforcing steel installation – Anchor bolt and embedment installation – Rotating equipment foundations and equipment setting supportPrior experience as a Civil General Superintendent or Superintendent on large-scale projectsStrong understanding of civil drawings, survey control, foundation tolerances, and construction sequencingAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, structural details, specifications, and equipment foundation layoutsExcellent leadership, communication, and organizational skillsStrong commitment to safety and qualityPreferredNCCER certification or equivalent construction credentialsExperience on utility-scale or large industrial EPC projectsFamiliarity with both union and non-union work environmentsExperience with heavy equipment operations and crane coordinationExperience supporting turbine, generator, and major equipment installationsWork EnvironmentAbility to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and shutdown schedules as project needs requireComfortable working in industrial environments, including excavation areas, elevated work, confined spaces, and outdoor conditionsWillingness to travel or work at remote project locationsBenefits Competitive compensation paid weeklyBest-in-class; Medical, Dental, Vision, and LTD/STD401(k) with company match, vested day-oneEmployee Stock Purchase Plan [ESPP]Tuition ReimbursementPaid Time Off, Holiday Pay, and Community Service Paid Time OffPet Coverage "For our Furry Friends"Legal Assistance CoverageAward winning safety programsCompany OverviewPrimoris was formed in 2004 as the parent company and is traded on the NYSE under the symbol PRIM.
