Senior Network Operations EngineerA leading global quantitative investment firm is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to join its infrastructure team. This organisation operates across global markets using a highly technology- and data-driven approach, combining research, engineering and trading expertise to solve complex technical challenges.The Network Operations function plays a key role in ensuring the stability and reliability of a large-scale global network estate. The team provides 24/7 operational support across low-latency trading environments, high-performance compute platforms and global WAN connectivity.The RoleYou will help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of a complex global network across trading, HPC and enterprise environments.Responsibilities include:Monitoring and responding to network incidents within defined SLAsPerforming initial triage of alerts and internal incident reportsWorking with senior engineers and vendors to resolve high-priority incidentsManaging the end-to-end hardware failure lifecycle and vendor coordinationProactively identifying potential issues using monitoring and trend analysisSupporting out-of-hours BAU network changes (ACLs, port configs, etc.)Liaising with connectivity providers during outages and managing resolutionProducing documentation, diagrams and knowledge articlesReviewing provider/vendor performance and driving service improvementsContributing to post-incident reviews and reliability initiativesSkills & ExperienceCCNA certification and/or relevant degreeExperience in a network operations or infrastructure support environmentHands-on experience with enterprise networking vendors (e.g. Cisco, Arista)Strong troubleshooting skills across routing & switching environmentsKnowledge of networking fundamentals: BGP, Multicast, TCP/IP, VXLANExperience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus)Familiarity with troubleshooting and analysis tools (Wireshark, Splunk, PromQL)Experience using service management tools (Jira, ServiceNow)Interest in emerging networking and automation technologies
