Data Center Commissioning LeadLocation: Texas, USATravel: Up to 50% across the USA and CanadaA leading global real estate and engineering firm is seeking an experienced Data Center Commissioning Project Lead to join its growing mission critical team. This role is ideal for a highly technical commissioning professional with deep expertise in large-scale data center projects, strong client-facing capabilities, and proven leadership experience managing complex commissioning programs from design through project completion.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage commissioning activities for hyperscale and mission critical data center projects throughout all project phases including design, pre-construction, construction, testing, and post-construction.Demonstrate strong fluency with commissioning processes and deliverables aligned with ASHRAE commissioning requirements and guidelines.Oversee commissioning execution for electrical and/or mechanical systems including installation reviews, startup activities, pre-functional inspections, integrated systems testing, and acceptance testing.Collaborate directly with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, AHJs, engineers of record, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.Develop and manage project commissioning plans, commissioning specifications, and commissioning procedures from design phase through turnover.Manage project proposals and client RFP responses, including staffing strategies, budgeting, scheduling, and financial oversight.Lead cross-functional commissioning teams on medium to large-scale critical facility projects.Review and manage development of Level 1–5 commissioning scripts, test procedures, SOPs, MOPs, and systems manuals.Conduct commissioning design reviews, specification reviews, and submittal evaluations.Schedule, lead, and document commissioning meetings and project reporting activities.Coordinate and oversee seasonal and performance testing activities.Serve as the primary client point of contact and escalation lead throughout project execution.Ensure all commissioning documentation is completed accurately and issued within required project timelines.Utilize QA/QC and commissioning software platforms including BIM360, CxAlloy, Facility Grid, and related systems.Support vendor training evaluations and ensure operational readiness of installed systems.Lead field commissioning activities and coordinate project teams to maximize efficiency, productivity, and compliance with project requirements.QualificationsMinimum 10 years of relevant mechanical or electrical engineering and/or field testing experience.Minimum 7 years of commissioning and/or construction QA/QC experience on data center construction projects.Demonstrated experience acting as a third-party Commissioning Authority (CxA) on greenfield data center projects exceeding 25MW capacity.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited institution preferred; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.Commissioning Professional Certification from a recognized industry authority preferred.PE, P.Eng., or PMP certification considered an asset.Strong technical knowledge of commissioning and testing for:Utility transformersUPS systemsGenerators and paralleling switchgearATS and STS systemsFuel oil systemsPDUsEPMS and BMS systemsChillers and cooling infrastructureCRAHs, CRACs, AHUsCDUs and liquid cooling systemsStrong data management, reporting, and scheduling skills.Advanced proficiency with MS Project, Excel, and Word.Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.Proven ability to analyze contractor schedules and integrate project performance data into master schedules.Experience working within a consultancy or owner-side organization is highly desirable.Why Join?This is an opportunity to join a globally recognized leader delivering cutting-edge mission critical infrastructure projects across North America.
