Business Analyst (BA) in Fund Administration
Job Title: Business Analyst – Alternative Fund AdministrationLocation: Oaks , PA Department: Fund Accounting / Digital TransformationReports To: [Product Owner / Head of Fund Services]Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented Business Analyst to bridge the gap between our Fund Accounting teams and our technical developers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Alternative Investment lifecycle (Private Equity, Real Estate, Debt, and Hedge Funds) and the ability to translate complex financial requirements into technical specifications for our fund accounting platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesRequirement Gathering: Act as the primary liaison between Fund Managers, Accountants, and Developers to document business requirements for fund onboarding, fee structures, and investor reporting.System Configuration: Lead the functional setup of alternative asset classes within platforms such as Investran, eFront, Allvue, or Geneva.Process Optimization: Analyze existing workflows in capital calls, distributions, and NAV production to identify bottlenecks and implement automated solutions.Waterfall Modeling: Translate complex Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs) into digital logic for automated Waterfall and Carried Interest calculations.UAT & Testing: Design and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scripts to ensure system updates and data migrations meet rigorous accounting standards.Data Management: Oversee the mapping and migration of historical fund data from legacy systems or spreadsheets into the core accounting database.Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Computer Science.Experience: 3–5 years as a Business Analyst within Fund Administration or an Investment Management firm.Domain Knowledge: Strong grasp of NAV (Net Asset Value) calculations, Trial Balances, and the specific nuances of Private Equity/Hedge Fund accounting.Technical Proficiency: * Advanced Excel (VBA/Macros is a plus).SQL proficiency for data querying and reporting.Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) or specialized accounting software.Methodology: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum frameworks and the ability to write clear User Stories and Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs).Preferred CertificationsCFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant).IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis) certifications (CBAP/CCBA).PMP or Prince2 certification.
