Controls Engineer
Controls Engineer (SIS Validation) The Opportunity We are seeking a detail-oriented Controls Engineer to drive data integrity and validation efforts for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) within a major industrial environment. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of complex control system documentation and automated metrics, directly impacting the safety and reliability of large-scale operations. Primary Responsibilities Data Transformation & Reporting: Populate and maintain automated Digital Cause & Effect (DiCE) metrics tables, transforming large datasets to ensure high-quality reporting and consistency across all data sources. C&E Documentation Validation: Execute rigorous tag-by-tag comparisons between Cause & Effect documentation and reference sources, including instrument lists, I/O lists, and logic narratives. Technical Audit & Logging: Identify and document discrepancies such as naming mismatches, duplicate entries, or incorrect associations, utilizing structured tracking tools to provide clear, repeatable evidence. System Integrity: Validate SIS and control system tags for completeness and accuracy across multiple document sets and live systems. Project Coordination: Track progress against defined validation milestones and escalate unresolved technical discrepancies to senior engineering leadership with summarized impact reports. Candidate Requirements Must-have Qualifications: Technical Data Proficiency: Advanced skill set in Microsoft Excel and the ability to organize, clean, and analyze large, complex datasets. Industry Exposure: Prior experience working within SIS, DCS/PLC, instrumentation, or general industrial control environments. Precision & Accuracy: A proven track record of performing repetitive validation tasks with a high degree of consistency and attention to detail. Communication: Strong organizational and written communication skills for professional issue logging and status reporting. Nice-to-have Qualifications: Relevant technical degree or formal engineering coursework. Experience with automated metrics templates and logic narratives.
