Hardware Design Engineer – Concurrent Real‑Time
Location: Pompano Beach, FL – Full‑time, On‑site, Exempt, Department: Custom Engineering.
About the Role
Concurrent Real‑Time is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to lead the development of advanced electronic systems that power world‑class real‑time solutions. If you’re passionate about computer engineering, self‑directed, and excited by complex, open‑ended technical challenges, you’ll thrive in this role.
You will own the full hardware development lifecycle—from concept architecture through production release—driving schematic design, PCB layout, hardware simulation, prototype validation, and cross‑functional integration. This senior‑level role influences product architecture, mentors junior engineers, and ensures design excellence across analog, digital, and mixed‑signal systems.
What You’ll Do
Design, simulate, and debug high‑performance analog and digital circuits, components, and PCB layouts.
Lead hardware programs from abstract concept to production, including NPI (New Product Introduction).
Perform signal integrity analysis, prototype bring‑up, and rigorous validation testing.
Guide architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices.
Translate future product needs into engineering feasibility and system‑level architecture.
Drive innovative solutions where prior designs or processes may not exist.
Work closely with software, mechanical, QA, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
Partner with external vendors, component suppliers, and technology partners.
Prepare detailed specifications, design documents, test reports, and release documentation.
Support performance benchmarking, release engineering, security hardening, and white paper development.
Contribute to test protocols and assist with system compatibility assessments.
Enhance the technical knowledge base and collaborate effectively across departments.
What You Bring
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
5–10+ years of hardware design engineering experience.
Strong background in schematic capture, PCB layout, and hardware simulation tools.
Familiarity with FPGA design tools and Linux‑based systems.
Experience performing board bring‑up, validation testing, and debugging complex systems.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical documentation skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing to collaborative, cross‑disciplinary teams.
Key Attributes for Success
Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and self‑motivated.
Comfortable working on complex, ambiguous engineering challenges.
Strong communication skills and the ability to share expertise with peers and customers.
Internal & External Collaboration
Internal: Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product, and other cross‑functional teams.
External: Interface with customers, industry partners, and vendors to support product development.
