Must meet State of Michigan certification and highly qualified requirementsFour-year degree in area of major studyValid Michigan Teaching Certificate in area of study requiredAbility to read, to analyze, and to interpret general business, professional and technical documents or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manualsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general publicAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inferenceAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programAbility to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assignedAbility to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parentsSkill in oral and written communicationESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties as assigned)Teaches district approved core curriculumCreates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the studentsPrepares for classes assigned, taking into consideration the diverse needs of learnersTakes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instruction media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and -in harmony with the goals-establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to studentsAssists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just mannerAssesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as requiredDevelops academic plans for students in need of additional supportEvaluates pupil's academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reportsEncourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behaviorDiagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as requiredMaintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulationsIs available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional dayCommunicates regularly (behavior and academic progress) with parents/guardians, student, student aides, parent helpers, student teachers, teaching assistants.Utilizes PBIS strategies to support positive student behavior within the classroom.Collaborative nature conducive to continual professional growth within a PLC.Physical RequirementsThis is a sedentary position, with occasional standing, and walking. The position requires the ability to remain stationary for at least 50% of the time. The position further requires the ability to constantly use equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, calculator, etc. The position further requires the ability to communicate both orally and written with district constituents.
