Reporting directly to the Cardiovascular Surgeon, the PA will play a vital role in patient care, including coordinating the perioperative process, assisting with surgeries, and performing rounding and test interpretation for adult and geriatric patients. The position involves responsibilities within OR and ICU/CVICU settings, contributing to patient management in a fast-paced, specialized surgical environment. Coverage is needed from April through July, with specific start and end dates to be confirmed. This is a fantastic chance to showcase your expertise in cardiothoracic or critical care settings.Required Skills:Current PA license and appropriate certificationsMinimum of 2 years of experience in Cardiothoracic or Vascular Surgery or Critical CareProficiency in patient assessment, care coordination, and test interpretationAbility to collaborate within a multidisciplinary teamExperience with EMR systems, preferably EpicAbility to work in adult and geriatric patient populationsWillingness to participate in OR call and ICU/CVICU call rotationsStrong clinical judgment and excellent communication skillsNice to Have Skills:Experience with vein harvesting and vascular tissue retrieval (not required)Prior work as a Surgical Nurse Practitioner or similar roleAdditional certifications such as ACLS or ARNP specialization in critical care or surgeryPreferred Education and Experience:Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant programAt least 2-3 years of relevant surgical or critical care experiencePrior experience working within a hospital setting, preferably in cardiothoracic or vascular surgeryOther Requirements:Credentialing process estimated at 60-90 days; temporary privileges potentially available in 45 daysWillingness to work scheduled OR and ICU/CVICU call shiftsAbility to adapt to evolving clinical demands and participate in ongoing credentialing and compliance proceduresVHS encourages qualified candidates eager to make a difference in patients' lives to apply now.
