Location: AustinAbout the RoleThe Platform Engineer, Test at inKind is responsible for owning and evolving the testing platform that underpins the quality and velocity of every product we ship. This role exists to ensure that engineering teams can move quickly and confidently — backed by automated testing infrastructure that is fast, reliable, and trusted across web, mobile, and backend services. This is a deeply technical, hands-on role with meaningful ownership. You will design and build the frameworks, harnesses, and CI/CD systems that engineers rely on every day to verify their changes. You will help define what "tested" means at inKind and partner with software engineers to make our applications easier to test from the start. At inKind, engineering operates through small, autonomous pods that own products and outcomes end-to-end. Rather than acting as a centralized gatekeeper, you will enable every pod to deliver high-quality software independently by providing the tooling, standards, and infrastructure that scale across the organization. Your success will be measured not only by the quality of the testing platform itself, but by how effectively engineering teams can move with confidence. You'll work closely with application engineers, quality engineers, product managers, and engineering leaders, but your primary focus will be the platform itself: the frameworks, infrastructure, tooling, and pipelines that make high-quality software possible at scale.Role ResponsibilitiesTesting Platform & FrameworksOwn and evolve inKind's web and mobile testing platforms, including framework selection, architecture, and long-term directionDesign and maintain automation frameworks using industry-standard toolingBuild and maintain harnesses for unit, integration, and UI testingEstablish reusable testing patterns that can be adopted consistently across podsPartner with engineering teams to improve testability and reduce friction in the development processHelp define testing standards and best practices that scale across multiple product teamsCI/CD & Developer ExperienceDesign and maintain CI/CD pipelines that execute tests reliably and surface failures clearlyBuild guardrails such as coverage requirements, quality gates, and automated checks that support engineering qualityContinuously improve pipeline performance, reliability, and developer feedback loopsOwn the operational health of testing infrastructure, including reliability, scalability, and cost managementReduce friction for engineers by improving tooling, documentation, and onboarding experiencesCollaboration & Technical LeadershipPartner closely with software engineers to design testable systems and featuresWork alongside quality engineers to align automation strategies with exploratory and manual testing effortsSupport engineering pods in adopting testing best practices and platform capabilitiesMentor engineers on testing patterns, framework usage, and quality engineering fundamentalsContribute to engineering standards that improve consistency across teamsMinimum Qualifications5+ years of experience building web and/or mobile testing platforms used by engineers5+ years of experience writing unit, integration, and UI tests across the testing pyramid3+ years of experience building and maintaining CI/CD solutions that enforce engineering quality standardsExperience working closely with software engineers to design testable systems and featuresDeep knowledge of testing frameworks such as Appium, XCUI, Espresso, Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar toolsStrong problem-solving abilities and a practical approach to technical challengesPassion for engineering quality and a track record of improving developer workflowsPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting multiple product teams or pods through shared platform ownershipExperience scaling testing infrastructure during periods of rapid company growthFamiliarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure environmentsExperience with containerized testing environments and CI/CD optimizationExperience with mobile device farms, test parallelization, or cross-platform test orchestrationExposure to AI-powered testing tools and automation techniquesExperience working within a Rails-based application ecosystemCompensationBase Salary: $150,000 - $160,000Who we are:inKind connects passionate diners with exceptional restaurants across the country. inKind partners with thousands of restaurants and has millions of users who want to discover great places, dine confidently, and earn meaningful rewards.Through the inKind app, guests earn 20% back every time they dine, turning everyday meals into something more rewarding.
