Substitute Bus Drivers 2025-2026
Logan-Hocking Schools Bus DriverThis position requires the person to meet all requirements of the Ohio Department of Education and District Board of Education Policy. The person must be of legal age with a minimum of two years driving experience, possess either a high school diploma or GED, be physically qualified, complete semi-annual driver record checks through the Ohio Department of Education, hold school bus driver certification from O.D.E. and Logan-Hocking School District, complete pre-service and in-service training, have the physical capability of safely and appropriately lifting and managing preschool and special needs children when necessary, participate in drug and alcohol testing as mandated by the federal motor carrier safety administration, maintain eligibility of insurance coverage of the school district fleet insurance carrier, and must have good attendance.
Reports to: Transportation Supervisor
Time Schedule: As required by the route.
Performance Responsibilities include driving buses punctually on regularly scheduled routes, driving on approved non-routine/extracurricular trips as required, maintaining a clean bus, inspecting bus as required by Ohio Pupil Transportation Operation and Safety Rules and documenting on a form provided, reporting bus defects to mechanics on the work order form, obeying all traffic laws, developing and enforcing student-seating chart, maintaining and reporting all discipline incidents in an appropriate manner, loading and discharging students only at authorized stops, assisting as needed with handicapped students, promoting positive public relations, operating buses only for approved school functions, reporting all accidents and completing all required reports, requesting service for vehicle at least two days in advance of the scheduled maintenance, transporting only authorized students to and from board approved bus stops and routes, fueling vehicle as required by operational regulations, maintaining over a half tank of fuel when parking vehicle after route, checking bus condition and seats following each route, and performing any other duties and regulations requested and required to expedite the transportation program. Other duties as assigned by Transportation Supervisor.
