Environmental Justice Education and Outreach Specialist
Job Overview
The Environmental Justice (EJ) Education and Outreach Specialist will play a crucial role in engaging with our fellows and the larger EJ community. They will work to build and maintain relationships that assist our programs and support the organization's mission. They will help to develop and deliver educational programs from conception to evaluation; provide consultation, program assistance, technical assistance and related services to help support and uplift environmental justice work within the organization and across the state of Maine.
Duties
Conduct research, collect data, and prepare educational materials on environmental justice issues and best practices.
Lead outreach initiatives to educate the community about available programs and services.
Develop and implement outreach strategies to reach diverse populations effectively.
Collaborate with the LPF team to support development and implementation of key EJ programs, including a comprehensive fellowship program.
Help develop and maintain relationships with key partners, program participants, tribal and state governments, local communities, NGO's , and the larger public.
Provide administrative support for outreach events and initiatives.
Assist the organization in other departments as needed.
Assist the organization during all events.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's + four years experience, or Master's Degree and 2 years experience.
- Experience and knowledge in environmental justice practices and programs.
- Experience teaching/offering educational programs.
- Experience developing outreach programs/network building.
- Comfort, Confidence, and Competence speaking and facilitating.
- Excellent written, oral, and improvisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective community engagement.
- Highly organized and self-directed.-
-Ability to take direction and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with a team.
- Must be reliable.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
