Restaurant Maintenance Technician

Chick-fil-A is seeking a skilled Restaurant Maintenance Technician to support both the Boiling Springs and Spartanburg (Asheville Hwy) restaurant locations.1) Position SummaryThe Restaurant Maintenance Technician ensures all commercial kitchen equipment, facilities, and systems operate at a consistent standard of excellence. This role is responsible for hands-on equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, urgent issue response, and stewardship of the Repairs & Maintenance budget. The RMT partners closely with restaurant leadership to protect uptime, food safety, team efficiency, and guest experience.2) Core Behavioral ExpectationsThe successful Restaurant Maintenance Technician will consistently demonstrate:Ownership and follow-throughStrong attention to detail (functional and aesthetic)Servant leadership and humilityCoachability and continuous improvementIntegrity and trustworthinessClear, proactive communicationCalm, effective problem-solving under pressure3) Primary ResponsibilitiesCommercial Kitchen Equipment (Primary Focus)Diagnose, maintain, and perform basic-to-intermediate repairs on commercial cooking and holding equipment, including fryers, grills, flat tops, toasters, ovens, and warmersWork confidently on commercial-grade equipment, not residential appliancesDetermine when to repair in-house, shut down equipment for safety, or escalate to licensed vendors (in collaboration with the Executive Director of Operations)Partner with leadership to prioritize repairs impacting food safety, speed, and guest experiencePreventative Maintenance & Equipment UptimeExecute scheduled preventative maintenance across both locationsFollow manufacturer guidelines and Chick-fil-A maintenance standardsRespond promptly to urgent issues affecting operationsElectrical (Practical and Safe)Perform safe, practical electrical troubleshooting common to restaurantsReplace switches, outlets, bulbs, ballast, plugs, and cordsDiagnose tripped breakers, faulty connections, and power issuesUse a multimeter safely and escalate licensed work appropriatelyPlumbing (Restaurant-Specific)* Repair common restaurant plumbing issues, including leaks, faucets, valves, drains, and ice machine water lines* Support dish machines, floor drains, and grease-related needsFacility Maintenance & StewardshipMaintain a clean, safe, and well-kept facility inside and outPerform minor repairs (doors: hinges, closers, locks, shelving, drywall, tile)Support seasonal, safety, and compliance-related needsMaintain organized, stocked, and cost-conscious maintenance suppliesCommunication & Documentation* Communicate priorities, timelines, and impacts clearly to leadership* Document completed work and open items for accountability4) Success IndicatorsThe Restaurant Maintenance Technician is successful when:Equipment and facilities remain fully operational and well maintainedPreventative maintenance is completed consistently and on timeRepairs minimize downtime and operational disruptionR&M resources are stewarded responsiblyLeadership receives proactive, reliable communication5) Reporting & CollaborationAdministrative Supervisor: Owner/OperatorOperational Oversight: Executive Director of Operations at each storeWorks closely with: Restaurant leadership teams, Directors/Supervisors6) Schedule & Physical RequirementsSupports two locations and requires reliable transportationSchedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and urgent call-insAble to lift and carry tools and parts and work safely around hot and cold equipmentComfortable working in kitchens, back-of-house areas, rooftops, and exterior spaces7) Required Skills & QualificationsExperience in commercial restaurant or food service maintenanceHands-on experience with commercial kitchen equipment repairsWorking knowledge of restaurant plumbing and electrical systemsStrong mechanical and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesBasic hand tools and reliable transportationChick-fil-A Workplace NoteWe are committed to maintaining a high-standard environment where our team can serve customers with excellence.
