Your main duties will be developing, implementing, and testing signal processing algorithms to exploit synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery. Day-to-day responsibilities will be primarily focused around developing code in various stages of maturity (from prototype to production level) in a fast paced environment for Ursa’s ongoing Airborne Moving Target Indicator (AMTI) effort as well as to solve problems in a multitude of Ursa’s other applications. Projects can range from fundamental SAR image processing to geospatial processing to data fusion approaches.Job ResponsibilitiesExperience working with classifying objects in SAR imageryContribute to state-of-the-art processing techniques to solve customer problems using commercial SAR imageryDesign SAR collection parameters tailored for AMTIEvaluate SAR satellite constellations and their orbits for a given use-caseDevelop proof-of-concept and production-quality SAR algorithms for AMTIPerform analysis to determine expected performance of processing algorithms for specific use casesParticipate in agile software development processes to bring algorithms into operational useParticipate in design discussions and code reviewsCommunicate effectively and collaborate frequently with peersMentor junior members of the engineering teamLead technical subject areasProvide technical leadership to projects and programsAll other duties as assignedRequirementsM.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and/or other technical discipline7-10 years of experienceProficiency in Python and version control software, preferably GitPrior experience developing or working with remote sensing and signal processing algorithms for various sensing modalities, including SAR, RF, or othersComplete understanding of SAR imaging modes and focusing algorithms Understanding of commercially available SAR imaging products in various modes Understanding of radar signal processing algorithms, primarily detection techniquesAbility to communicate technical information clearly and effectivelyExperience working on a cross-functional team developing solutions to complex tasksActive curiosity and a desire to learn and grow as a technical expertA fast, reliable internet connection if you are working remotely is a mustPreferred Skills/QualificationsPh.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other technical disciplineImage processing techniquesVerification and validation techniquesModeling and simulation of radar systems and imageryFamiliarity with compensated phase history data (CPHD) formatPrior experience with moving target indicationComputer vision and machine learning techniquesProficiency in deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras)Experience with GPU Analytics and GPU accelerated programmingExperience with Cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud Platform)Experience adhering to security best practicesPrior experience working with government contracts and/or interfacing with external customersCompensation$160,000 - $170,000, relative to skills and experienceLocationWe are headquartered in Ithaca, NY and have a remote workforce in other locations throughout the United StatesPlease note: applications without a relevant cover letter will not be considered.
