We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller Consultant to join our team and help drive the continued success of our firm and clients.Position Overview:As a Controller at APN Group, you will play a key role in both the firm’s internal operations and providing strategic support to clients. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with GAAP, streamlining accounting processes, and offering valuable insights to multiple clients. This role includes managing client relationships, developing policies, onboarding new clients, overseeing software conversions, and handling ad-hoc projects. You will collaborate with internal accounting teams and ensure compliance with financial regulations while staying current on industry-specific issues.Key Responsibilities:Client Management: Implement and enforce customized accounting policies and procedures, recommend process improvements, offer strategic financial advice, and tailor systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate, timely financial statements; recommend benchmarks and KPIs; assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; provide financial insights for decision-making and special projects.Transactions: Oversee AP payments, manage AR policies and collections, develop payroll procedures, ensure timely bank reconciliations, manage cash flow, maintain an effective chart of accounts, advise on document management, and establish internal controls.Compliance: Coordinate external audit requests, monitor debt compliance, and ensure adherence to tax filings and government regulations.Internal Firm Operations: Support the Senior Controller in managing accounting staff, prepare GAAP-compliant workpapers, review client time/utilization, and stay updated on relevant industry issues.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance10+ years of progressive accounting experience.Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Outlook, and other accounting software (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, Intacct, Great Plains).Strong expertise in AR, AP, payroll, and general ledger management.Expertise in financial reconciliations and account analysis.Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey financial insights clearly to clients.Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple client engagements and aligning with scope and timelines.Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing accounting teams.Client relationship management skills with a focus on offering tailored solutions to enhance client success.Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.Preferred: Public accounting or audit experience.Success Factors / Job Competencies:Client-Focused: Exemplary communication, business acumen, and a strong desire to help clients optimize their financial data.Driven: Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to see the big picture.Collaborator: Works effectively in a team environment, offering support and resources to team members.Problem Solver: Enjoys troubleshooting and researching solutions, knows when to seek assistance.Reliable and Disciplined: Manages own schedule, anticipates client needs, and works independently with flexibility.Why APN Group?Flexible Schedule: Remote, part-time or full-time position with the flexibility to manage your hours while contributing to the firm’s growth.Dynamic Environment: Join a rapidly growing firm and be a key player in its continued success.Collaborative Team: Work alongside an experienced leadership team that values your input.The Controller position offers the opportunity to combine technical accounting expertise with strategic, client-facing work.
