Position Overview
The Quality Systems Manager supports program and project leadership by ensuring processes, products, and deliverables comply with contractual requirements, internal policies, and applicable industry quality standards. This role is responsible for conducting and overseeing process and product evaluations, quality audits, and surveillance activities across multiple locations.
The position ensures software and system lifecycle activities, verification and validation efforts, and resulting artifacts are controlled, independently reviewed, auditable, and compliant with standards including ISO, CMMI-DEV, CMMI-SVC, ITIL, and FAA-related requirements. The Quality Systems Manager plays a critical role in maintaining an effective Quality Management System and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Perform process and product evaluations (audits) to ensure compliance with:
Customer and vendor contract requirements
Program policies, procedures, and quality standards
Verify software and system lifecycle processes, including:
Verification and Validation (V&V) activities
Independent reviews and inspections
Artifact control and audit readiness
Conduct and/or oversee Quality Control (QC) activities across installation or project locations, including:
Quality surveillance
Process and deliverable inspections
Compliance audits and reviews
Monitor subcontractor and supplier quality performance
Validate objective evidence supporting compliance and acceptance
Support customer acceptance and readiness activities
Identify, document, and track non-conformances and corrective actions to closure
Support implementation and maintenance of the Quality System Plan (QSP)
Establish, maintain, and govern quality processes and procedures
Measure and monitor quality performance metrics
Conduct internal audits and support external/customer audits
Lead or support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) efforts
Promote continuous process improvement across programs
Standards & Frameworks
Experience working within or supporting compliance to:
AS9100D - Quality Management Systems for Aviation, Space, and Defense
ISO 9001 / ISO/IEC/IEEE 90003:2018 - Software Quality Management
CMMI-DEV & CMMI-SVC
ITIL service management practices
FAA or other regulated program environments (as applicable)
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
10 years of experience, may have supervisory or lead experience
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a public trust clearance
Experience in quality systems, quality assurance, or compliance roles
Experience performing audits, inspections, or quality surveillance activities
Knowledge of software/system lifecycle processes and V&V practices
Familiarity with ISO, CMMI, and structured quality management frameworks
Experience documenting and tracking non-conformances and corrective actions
Ability to interpret contractual and regulatory quality requirements
Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work across technical teams, program leadership, and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting aviation, FAA, defense, or other regulated environments
Experience with AS9100D-compliant quality systems
Background in supplier/subcontractor quality management
Experience supporting multi-site or field installation programs
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range
Details
Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
