SQL Data Engineer

NextStep Recruiting has partnered with a financial services organization to identify a Senior SQL Database Engineer in Dallas, TX. This role is hybrid and will support enterprise SQL Server environments while playing a key role in the organization's migration from on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. This position is ideal for an experienced SQL DBA who combines deep database administration skills with growing cloud expertise. The right candidate is technically strong, communicates well across teams, and is comfortable taking ownership of database performance, availability, and modernization initiatives. *Required:* * 7+ years of SQL Server database administration or closely related database engineering experience * Strong T-SQL skills with hands-on experience in performance tuning, indexing, backups, restores, and database optimization * Experience administering highly available SQL environments, including HA/DR and replication technologies * Hands-on Microsoft Azure experience with demonstrated involvement in on-premises to cloud database migrations * Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across data, infrastructure, and application teams *Preferred:* * Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Data Lake, or related Microsoft cloud data services * Microsoft Fabric experience, including Lakehouse or Data Warehouse environments * Experience with database replication technologies and SQL log shipping * PowerShell, Python, CI/CD, or Azure DevOps automation experience * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline This is a strong opportunity for an experienced SQL DBA who wants to remain hands-on while gaining significant exposure to Azure modernization and next-generation Microsoft data platforms. _NextStep Recruiting provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants regardless of race, color, or applicable state and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment in every location where the company has facilities. _ Work Location: In person
