Due to client requirements and the nature of the position, non-citizens are not eligible to apply.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and manage large-scale projects within heavy manufacturing and fabrication operations. This role is responsible for overseeing complex manufacturing programs from initiation through execution and closeout, ensuring alignment across engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain functions.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex projects in heavy manufacturing environments, with a strong background in shipbuilding or similar large-scale fabrication industries. This role requires a strategic thinker with proven ability to manage full project lifecycles, maintain critical path schedules, and deliver programs exceeding $10M in value.Key ResponsibilitiesLead all phases of the project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure for large-scale manufacturing and fabrication projectsDevelop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure adherence to timelines and cost constraintsIdentify critical path activities, manage dependencies, and develop mitigation plans to maintain delivery performanceCollaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain to ensure project alignmentManage complex component builds and ensure execution aligns with schedule and delivery requirementsIdentify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential challengesCommunicate project status, metrics, and updates to stakeholders, including senior management and clientsFoster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout project executionMentor and guide junior project managers and team membersDevelop detailed project plan assessments including critical path mapping, dependency tracking, and resource loadingQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)8–10+ years of project management experience in heavy manufacturing, fabrication, or shipbuilding environmentsProven experience managing large, complex projects with budgets exceeding $10MStrong knowledge of project management methodologies (PMI, Agile)Experience using project management tools such as MS Project and PrimaveraExperience managing in a manufacturing environmentExperience managing complex component builds, including critical path identification and mitigation planningStrong executive-level communication skillsDemonstrated experience in risk management, problem-solving, and decision-making within manufacturing settingsProfessional certification in Project Management (PMP or equivalent) highly desirableDoD contracting experience preferredConfidential or Secret clearance preferred (not required)Additional RequirementsTraining period at Newport News Shipbuilding prior to deployment to manufacturing site
