CALIFORNIA INTERSCHOLASTIC FEDERATION - SAC-JOAQUIN SECTION -JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Director (Chief Financial Officer)Description of Responsibilities (Position Summary): The Director (Chief Financial Officer – CFO) reports to the Commissioner and is responsible for the strategic oversight and administration of all financial operations and human resource functions of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section (SJS). This position exercises a high degree of independent judgment, ensures regulatory compliance, and provides accurate, timely financial information to support organizational decision-making.Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000APPLY HERE: https://www.edjoin.org/Home/JobPosting/2218656Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Financial Management & AccountingDirect and manage all financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, cash management, and financial reporting.Develop, implement, and monitor the Section’s annual budget and long-term financial forecasts. •Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, reimbursements, and general ledger activity.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.Manage bank reconciliations, cash flow, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules.Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all required tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and applicable federal and state reports.Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.Budgeting, Reporting & AnalysisLead the budget development process and provide ongoing financial analysis and projections.Prepare and present financial reports to the Commissioner, Executive Committee, Board of Managers, Superintendent Advisory Committee, and any other committee, as assigned.Monitor revenues and expenditures, including playoff income, membership dues, sponsorships, and eventrelated finances.Provide financial summaries for championship events and other Section activities.Human Resources AdministrationManage all human resource functions, including payroll, benefits administration, personnel records, and leave tracking.Ensure compliance with California employment laws and regulations.Oversee updates to the Employee Handbook.Conduct salary and benefits surveys and support compensation planning.Billing, Revenue & Vendor RelationsOversee billing, invoicing, and collections for membership dues, playoff fees, and other revenue sources.Review and process vendor invoices and ensure proper authorization and coding.Review and track all marketing income, including sponsorships, charitable contributions, and CIF funds.Serve as the primary contact for financial inquiries from schools, vendors, and partners.External Relations & Organizational SupportAct as liaison to external agencies and service providers, including CalPERS, payroll services, insurance providers, and governmental entities.Represent the Section at meetings of the Executive Committee, Board of Managers, and other advisory groups.Support championship event financial planning and coordination.OtherAct as the SJS liaison with all oversight responsibilities for assigned sports, including, but not limited to, post season play, championships events and advisory committees.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Commissioner or Associate Commissioner.Employment Standards:Knowledge of:Accounting principles, financial management, and auditing practicesBudget development and financial forecastingPayroll systems and human resource administrationApplicable federal, state, and CalPERS regulationsFinancial software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office SuiteOrganizational operations related to interscholastic athleticsEducation and ExperienceCollege degree in accounting, business administration, human resources, or a related field (preferred)Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, or a related field Licenses and CertificatesValid California Driver’s LicenseAbility to obtain CPR and First Aid certification Physical RequirementsPrimarily sedentary work; light physical activity with occasional lifting up to 25 poundsAbility to sit, stand, and walk for extended periodsVisual ability to read documents and computer screensThe CIF Sac-Joaquin Section does not discriminate on the basis of color, race, religion, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender, ethnic group identification, mental or physical disability in its educational programs, activities, or employment.
