Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector has autonomy to guarantee that flexible packaging products and materials produced at Tejas meet our quality standards. The Quality Department reviews materials at all stages from receiving supplies, though each step in production (artwork, printing, lamination, forming etc) to the final product, focusing their experience on identifying quality problems, analyzing production details and processes and proposing solutions to ensure optimal quality and efficiency. Essential Duties Include: Collect, prepare and retain production samples (Beginning, Middle and End of Production) Perform visual and manual inspections and testing of incoming supplies and manufactured products to ensure company standards and specifications are met Maintain records of inspections and test data Serve as a technical liaison between quality control and other departments, vendors, or contractors. Participate in internal assessments and audits as required. Provide hands or quality support and guidance to all staff Help prepare and review reports on quality issues and updates to procedures or training to ensure quality problems are not repeated Skills: Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and consistency Ability to analyze variations in products from specifications Familiarity with inspection tools such as micrometer and calipers Knowledge of audit processes for SQF certificate (or similar) Working knowledge of root cause reporting and 5S and Lean Manufacturing Basic mathematical knowledge: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division Computer skills including Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms Ability to organize and maintain information Strong communication skills-ability to read and write variance reports in English (Spanish a plus) Schedule may vary according to workflow, but currently 7am-430pm Monday through Friday, overtime paid at time and a half for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.
