About The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled AI Assisted Fullstack Java Engineer to join our client's dynamic development team in Chicago, IL. This hybrid role requires a candidate who is highly self-sufficient, hands-on, and experienced in full-stack development with a focus on Java backend and React frontend technologies. The ideal candidate will possess strong engineering fundamentals, including design patterns and code quality assessment, along with proven expertise in AI development tools such as Anthropic Claude and Cursor. As a senior contributor, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating software development cycles, improving code quality, and ensuring production readiness by responsibly leveraging AI-assisted development tools. Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a full-stack engineer with a focus on Java backend development
- Strong proficiency in React for frontend development
- Extensive experience in AI-assisted development, specifically with tools like Anthropic Claude and CursorDeep understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices
- Experience in developing, refactoring, and hardening enterprise-grade software components
- Familiarity with secure coding practices, data protection, and operational standards
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills within Agile teams
- Ability to evaluate AI-generated code for quality, security, and maintainability
- Demonstrated experience working in production environments and delivering production-ready codeU.S. residency or authorization to work in the United States
Responsibilities:
- Actively contribute across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and production hardening of Java and React components
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate development cycles, improve code quality, and reduce rework
- Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Guide and mentor team members on best practices for AI-assisted development and code quality assurance
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, ensuring smooth project delivery
- Ensure all code and artifacts adhere to CNA security, operational, and quality standards, including secure coding and performance optimization
- Review, modify, and justify AI-generated outputs, maintaining full ownership and accountability for deliverables
- Document design decisions influenced by AI tools, ensuring transparency and knowledge transfer
- Support CI/CD pipeline integration, deployment, and operational monitoring of developed components
