Who We Are
Impact Electronic Solutions - Rhode Island (IES-RI), formerly Bay Computer Associates (BCA), is a software development and electronics design firm that has been operating in RI for over 35 years. Impact Electronic Solutions is a multi-site, family of companies that provides full-service electronics design and manufacturing services. Our design group in Rhode Island specializes in high-end medical device design as well as consumer devices, manufacturing systems, laboratory devices and research. We are a contract design firm with a permanent staff of engineers who act as the entire electronics and software group for manufacturers or complement their existing team. While this role is specific to engineering design at our location in Rhode Island, our broader capabilities through our other sites include PCB assembly, custom cable assemblies, custom cable harnesses, electronic sub-assemblies, full box builds, electro-mechanical and pneumatic assemblies and other value-added products.

You're excited about electronics design and want to design real hardware that ships. You're early in your career (or just graduating) and looking for a place where you can grow quickly by working on real products alongside experienced engineers.

Basic Qualifications:
BS/MS Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field from ABET accredited program.
Occasional travel (
Required Experience:
Strong fundamentals in circuits, electronics, and digital logic
Comfortable working hands‑on with prototype hardware
Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and domains quickly
Preferred Experience:
Additional experience in any of these areas is a bonus, but not strictly required for consideration.
Experience with PCB design tools (Altium preferred, but any tool is beneficial)
Internship, co‑op, senior design project, or personal electronics projects
Familiarity with regulatory standards (medical or other industries)
Experience using lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DMM, etc.)
Basic soldering or hardware rework experience
Embedded firmware literacy and development experience
Experience with FPGA development.
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams of firmware, software and mechanical engineers.
