This Associate Chief Nursing Service - Acute Care Medicine position is located in Nursing Service at the West Roxbury, MA location and covers a variety of acute care medical areas including Medical Intensive Care (MICU), Cardiology Care Unit (CCU), Inpatient Medical units and the Emergency Department. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week.The Nurse IV Associate Chief Nursing functions as an advisor, administrator, educator, consultant, and mentor who possesses a wide range of experience and leadership ability.The Associate Chief Nursing provides senior leadership and oversight for daily clinical and administrative operations within nursing as directed by the Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS.)Duties include but not limited to:Executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines, influence organizational mission and health care, and responsibility for outcomes.Functions as leader, educator, and consultant utilizing management theory in collaboration with clinical and administrative services.Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all levels of medical center personnel and relate effectively with customers, families, and the community, as well as, program and service leaders at the local and network levels.Assists Nurse Managers and advance practitioners to carry out the functions and activities expected of them.Contributes ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of nursing organization-wide.Assists in policy-making activities as related to customer service and the overall functioning of administrative and clinical programs.Collaborates with other healthcare staff to establish and maintain programs which cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission and health care.Responsible for budget planning and management, staffing projections and utilization, coaching, development and supervision of nurse managers and coordinators.Responsible for program development, performance management, leadership, labor management activities, and has a leadership role in the inpatient acute care areas of Nursing Service.Works closely with all clinical service chiefs including Medicine and Cardiology.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.Compressed/Flexible: May be authorized.Telework: Available for Ad-hoc.Virtual: This is not a virtual position.Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized.Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized.Notifications:Current federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50 (Notice of Personnel Action).
