The coach will be responsible for providing instruction, supervision, and leadership to student-athletes while promoting academic achievement, sportsmanship, and compliance with all California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), district, and site policies.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, and conduct practices and competitions in accordance with CIF rules and district guidelinesTeach sport-specific skills, strategies, and conditioning techniques appropriate for high school athletesSupervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and team activitiesFoster a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, character, equity, and respectEnsure compliance with CIF bylaws, league rules, eligibility requirements, and transfer regulationsMonitor and support student-athlete academic eligibility and attendanceCommunicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, athletic directors, administrators, and school staffMaintain accurate records including rosters, eligibility, injury reports, and required CIF documentationCoordinate with athletic trainers and follow district concussion management and injury protocolsMaintain, inventory, and properly store athletic equipment and uniformsSupervise assistant coaches and volunteers in compliance with CIF and district policiesAttend required meetings, trainings, and professional development sessionsMinimum QualificationsKnowledge of the sport, CIF rules, and high school athleticsDemonstrated ability to work effectively with high school-aged studentsStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsCommitment to the educational mission of interscholastic athleticsCIF & District Required Certifications (must be completed prior to coaching)Fingerprint DOJ/FBI ClearanceCIF Coaching Education Program (CEP) Coaches Full CertificationFundamentals of CoachingFirst Aid, CPR & AEDCPR/First Aid TrainingSudden Cardiac Arrest awareness training Heat Illness TrainingConcussion in Sports Certification (CIF-approved)TB clearanceCompletion of all district-mandated Keenan trainingsWork SchedulePractices and competitions occur after school, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the CIF season of sport
