Senior Technical Project Manager
Role Description
As a Senior Technical Project Manager on our Customer Experience and Engagement team, you’ll lead the delivery of complex technology programs that shape how utilities interact with their customers, from customer information systems (CIS) and billing platforms to digital self-service, contact center modernization, and engagement journeys. You’ll work directly with utility clients, internal delivery teams, and software partners to bring multi-stakeholder programs in on time, on budget, and aligned to measurable customer outcomes.
This role is a fit for a project manager who is equally comfortable in a steering committee, a sprint review, and a deep technical design discussion, and who genuinely cares about how the work shows up for the customer at the end of the line.
Lead cross-functional teams delivering customer experience and engagement technology programs across CIS, billing, contact center, and digital channels
Plan, organize, and oversee complex multi-workstream projects, balancing scope, schedule, budget, and quality across utility, vendor, and E Source teams
Partner with client sponsors, business owners, and IT leaders to translate customer experience goals into clear program objectives, milestones, and deliverables
Own client relationships day to day, serving as the primary point of accountability for delivery and as a trusted advisor on customer engagement strategy
Manage program risk through structured reviews, transparent reporting, and timely escalation to client and E Source leadership
Coordinate the work of internal teams, third-party contractors, and software vendors so each contributes on schedule and to specification
Apply Project Management Institute standards and proven delivery methods, adapting between waterfall, agile, and hybrid approaches as the program requires
Maintain integrated project schedules, financials, and resource plans, reporting variances and corrective actions clearly and early
Oversee quality control on customer-facing deliverables, ensuring releases meet functional, regulatory, and customer experience expectations before they reach utility customers
Coach project team members and contribute to the growth of E Source’s broader customer experience and engagement practice
Contribute to proposals, scoping, and account growth by shaping how we package and deliver customer engagement programs for new and existing utility clients
Qualifications
Lead complex technology programs without losing sight of the customer experience the program is meant to improve
Move comfortably between executive sponsors, business stakeholders, and technical teams, translating between them as needed
Bring strong judgment to scope, sequencing, and trade-off decisions when priorities and timelines shift
Communicate clearly in writing and in the room, and prefer plain language over jargon
Care about the people you work with, the clients you serve, and the quality of what your team ships
Requirements
A minimum of eight years of project or program management experience, with at least five years in the utility, energy, or water sector
Demonstrated experience delivering customer-facing technology programs, ideally including CIS, billing, contact center, or digital engagement platforms
Proven ability to act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams in a utility environment
Expert command of project management tools and methodologies, including Microsoft Project, Jira, or equivalent
Strong skills in critical thinking, business planning, risk management, and change management
Excellent written and verbal communication, including comfort presenting to executive and client audiences
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Visio
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or equivalent demonstrated experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering, business, or an equivalent body of professional experience
Benefits
Excellent insurance options, including medical, dental, and vision plans; company-paid life insurance; company-paid long- and short-term disability insurance; medical and dependent-care flexible spending plans; and paid parental leave.
A flexible time off (FTO) policy that provides paid time away from work, approved by your manager, while ensuring business needs, workload commitments, and appropriate coverage are maintained.
A 401(k) plan with a 3% employer match.
