Shift Supervisor, 3rd Shift
The Production Supervisor oversees one or more production team(s) in a manufacturing environment to meet customer requirements, both internal and external, while also maintaining and enhancing quality and process improvement objectives. The Lead reports to the Production Supervisor. It is imperative that the Lead conducts him/herself as a role model for operators demonstrating strong productivity, performance, attendance, and adherence to company policy and rules.
You can expect to:
Review, analyze, and make recommendations regarding safety, continuous improvement, employee performance, quality, expenses, and productivity
Interprets work orders, staffing, machine capabilities, etc. and assigns duties accordingly
Organize controls and audits of the operation to ensure that a quality product is produced in an efficient manner
Assist in department operations including setting up new parts, training operators, troubleshooting equipment, etc.
Drive collaboration and improvements through communications, teamwork, and KPIS
Supports the use of Lean Daily Management tools to drive and measure operational performance, Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
Supports 5S initiatives for organization and cleaning of all work areas.
Ensure department personnel receive appropriate training and orientation to enable them to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently
Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of production, department, or work crew
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems
Develop and implement continuous improvement with employees' performance by collaborating with HR and providing regular feedback, coaching, and training
Partner with HR to ensure established policies, procedures, or processes are enforced and direct reports are accountable for their work and action
Responsible for ensuring appropriate training is provided to new employees and to achieve a higher level of technical competence in their work teams.
Complete the scheduling and execution of the off shifts/lights out production activities.
Be a production facilitator and be responsible for all activities that occur in his/her department and/or area.
Be thoroughly knowledgeable of all processes, procedures and instructions that are applicable in his/her respective department to act as a technical resource and be able to troubleshoot process interruptions as they occur.

You will do this by:
Establishing expectations of workmanship to meet quality and productivity requirements.
Investigating processes that are out of conformance and take appropriate action to eliminate.
Acting as a technical and interpersonal resource for department employees.
Managing employees: Assuring work assignments are being completed effectively, setting performance and quality expectations, assisting employees in resolving production problems, maintaining accurate time records, ensuring all employees have current and necessary training, maintaining an orderly and safe work environment.
Working closely with others in Manufacturing Operations to assure compliance with the established manufacturing Procedures.
Reviewing processes and departmental layout to assure lowest production costs and highest shop labor efficiency.
Participating in the hiring process and helping to develop training plans for all employees.
Regularly assessing employee performance to Company expectations, resolving employee problems, conducting investigations into safety, quality, or other incidents, and administer discipline within the corporate guidelines and in a timely manner.
Requiring to come in 30 minutes prior to shift start and required to stay 30 minutes after for shift hand-off.

Required Qualifications:
Technical or Associates Degree in maintenance-related or machining-related field highly desired
Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading teams in a manufacturing environment
Experience interacting with multiple groups of people and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and initiate innovative solutions to obtain successful outcomes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong technology expertise; Proficient with Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering or related field
Experience working in a machining or fabrication manufacturing environment
Additional Knowledge & Skills:
Ability to read a tape measure
Ability to read check sheets
Ability to use special micrometers and gauges
Ability to work safely and efficiently
Ability to work with close tolerances
Physical | Visual Demands:
Some travel to each business unit (.5 miles away from each other) for training purposes
Occasionally may have to lift to 35lbs
Time will be spent sitting in front of a computer screen
Spending 80% of your time on the production floor
Work Environment:
Loud (Examples: metal can, manufacturing department, large earth moving equipment)
