Head of Core Strats — New York (5 days onsite)A multi-strategy alternative asset manager with a parallel digital assets platform is building out the third pillar of its Core Engineering function. We are exclusively retained to lead the search for the engineer who will own it.This is a Core Strats role in the classic sense — modeled directly on how the discipline is practiced at the world's top quant trading firms and investment banks. Small team. Dense. Deeply technical. You will build and own the firm's canonical data substrate: security master, entity master, normalized positions, PnL, trades, prices, and the time-series infrastructure that every quant, strat developer, and analytics team builds on top of.The platform is also the foundation for the firm's AI-native research and production stack. The firm is transforming into an AI-first organization across every business line, and this layer is what makes that possible.What you will actually doDesign the canonical object model spanning both alternative assets and digital assets. Build the libraries, APIs, and interactive surfaces quants use to explore data, prototype models, and push research into production. Operate the layer as a shadow IBOR — independently constructed, continuously reconciled, divergence visible and actionable. Make sub-second interactive performance non-negotiable. Lead a small team of senior engineers and set the technical bar.You will report to the Head of Core Engineering and sit as a peer to the leads of the other two Core pillars.Who we need12+ years building financial data, analytics, or strats platforms. Deep hands-on experience across at least three of: security/entity master, IBOR and position keeping, time-series market data, curve and calendar libraries, instrument object models, bitemporal data, trade/PnL/risk plumbing.Strats, core tech, or quant developer heritage from a top-tier trading firm, hedge fund, asset manager, or investment bank. Python plus one performance language (C++, Rust, Java, or C#). Strong systems instincts and real financial intuition.You have built shared platforms that engineers and quants chose to use — not ones imposed on them.Why this seat is rareYou are not inheriting legacy.
