Job Summary As a Design Intern, you will be responsible for supporting the design team in the development of workplace solutions for new and existing clients. You will work alongside a team of dynamic, creative workplace designers, practicing high standards for design, providing a high level of customer satisfaction, and serving as a supportive & collaborative member of a dynamic project team. This is a part-time position of no more than 20 hours per week. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assume responsibility for the completion of designated design tasks under the supervision of design mentor. Assist with the creation of furniture thought starters, curated furniture options, fabric and finish palettes, and renderings. Create and update project-specific furniture, fabric, finish, and typical approval packages. Contact vendors and obtain product pricing and quotations. Create and update project-specific furniture specifications. Order project-specific fabric/finish samples. Coordinate testing of COM (customer’s own material) with vendors. Assist with the preparation of client meetings, and presentations. Attend client meetings & presentations with designers, as needed. Participate with on-site field verifications and meetings. Demonstrate good time management skills, addressing competing priorities, making sound decisions in short timeframes with appropriate action and guidance from design mentor. Assist with maintaining material library management and organization. Demonstrate Insidesource values: Team First, Client Led, Change Markers & Experience Focused on all aspects of work.Skills/Knowledge Required Basic understanding and willingness to learn basics of design as it pertains to building systems, building codes, electrical, and cabling. Familiarity with basic concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of Interior Design. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Outstanding graphic presentation skills. Strong communicator with good verbal presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex design concepts to clients. Some experience and general knowledge using design software (AutoCAD, Sketch-up or Revit), PowerPoint and Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite. Willingness to learn new programs if needed.
