Herschend is seeking an organized and reliable Prep Cook to work along the team and support operations for our newest hospitality venture, Dolly Parton's SongTeller Hotel, located in the heart of Downtown Nashville. This person is driven to create meaningful experiences for our hosts, guests, and community while simultaneously ensuring the success and profitability of our unique culinary offerings at Dolly Parton's SongTeller Hotel featuring 245 rooms, two F&B Entertainment venues, a market, and Dolly Parton's Museum.Our Prep Cook will assist in all culinary preparation activities, including washing, chopping, and portioning ingredients, preparing sauces and base items, supporting mise en place for hot and cold stations, stocking ingredients and supplies, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation procedures, and supporting line cooks and banquet service as needed.SongTeller Hotel Nashville is more than just a place to rest your head, it's a hub of music, style, and hospitality designed the Dolly-way. So come experience the unique charm, and hospitality that could only be created by the iconic hostess herself!SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIESReports to the Sous Chef to receive daily prep assignments.Reviews daily specials, menu changes, and preparation requirements prior to service.Washes, chops, and portions vegetables, proteins, and other ingredients.Prepares sauces, dressings, doughs, and other base items according to recipes.Prepares mise en place for line stations and banquet service.Stocks ingredients and supplies at assigned workstations.Assists with opening and closing duties in prep areas.Maintains clean, organized, and sanitary workstations and prep areas.Follows proper food handling, storage, labeling, and FIFO rotation proceduresMaintains awareness of food allergies and ensures proper labeling of ingredientsEnsures all ingredients are handled, stored, and portioned correctly to maintain quality and consistency showing attention to detail and pride in consistent standards.Supports line cooks and kitchen team to ensure smooth service operations.Communicates effectively and follows written and verbal instructions.Demonstrates basic knife skills and safe food preparation techniques.Maintains professional appearance, personal hygiene, and dependable attendance.Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying kitchen conditions.Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSMust be at least 18 years of age.High school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious experience in a professional kitchen or culinary environment preferredMust be able to obtain and maintain a Food Handler certification in accordance with local health regulations.Demonstrates attention to detail and a strong interest in maintaining ingredient and prep quality.Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills under the guidance of line cooks and kitchen leadership.Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening in accordance with company policy.ABOUT DOLLY PARTON'S SONGTELLER HOTEL & HERSCHENDEqual Opportunity Employer
