Job DescriptionWarehouse Freight Handler Job Summary:The Warehouse Freight Handler is responsible for the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods within a warehouse. This role involves handling freight, operating warehouse equipment, and ensuring that inventory is managed efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience in a warehouse setting, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Warehouse Freight Handler Key Responsibilities:Receiving and Inspecting Goods:Unload freight from delivery trucks using forklifts or other warehouse equipment. Inspect incoming shipments for damage and verify that the correct items and quantities have been received. Document and report any discrepancies or issues with shipments. Storing and Organizing Inventory:Properly store goods in designated areas within the warehouse to maximize space and ensure easy access. Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and locations. Rotate stock to ensure that older inventory is used before newer stock. Order Fulfillment:Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment according to customer specifications. Ensure accuracy in order picking and packing to minimize errors and returns. Label and prepare shipments for dispatch. Safety and Compliance:Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure that all safety equipment is used properly and that hazardous materials are handled according to regulations. Housekeeping:Keep the warehouse clean and organized by disposing of trash and cleaning up spills. Ensure that aisles and work areas are free of obstructions and hazards. Communication:Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate tasks and resolve issues. Provide excellent customer service by addressing any questions or concerns related to inventory or shipments. Warehouse Freight Handler Qualifications:Education:High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience:Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is desirable. Experience operating warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts) is a plus. Skills:Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 75lbs). Basic math skills for inventory management and order processing. Good organizational and time-management skills. Certifications:Forklift certification may be required or preferred, depending on the employer. Warehouse Freight Handler Physical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. Capable of working in various environmental conditions (e.g., cold, heat, and noise). Warehouse Freight Handler Working Conditions:Typically involves working in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and conditions. May require working overtime or extended hours during peak seasons.
