This role requires a deep understanding of research design, including the ability to shape study designs for rigorous evaluation, and a commitment to knowledge sharing that influences policy and practice. The Managing Director will also be involved in cultivating research partnerships, supervising research staff, and ensuring that the company's investments in research align with its mission. Applicants for the Managing Director position should have a doctorate in a relevant field, with a preference for sociology, education, psychology, or public policy, and at least 10 years of post-doctorate experience in applied research, particularly in K-12 education. The role demands a leader with a proven track record in research, including experience as a principal investigator in rigorous studies, and senior leadership experience in a research institution, education non-profit, or government agency. The ideal candidate will be a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and will demonstrate the ability to convert research findings into actionable insights. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a complex portfolio of research activities are essential.
