Lower School Drama TeacherAspen Country Day SchoolFull Time, ExemptAspen Country Day School seeks a creative and energetic Lower School Drama Teacher for the 2026/2027 academic year. The ideal candidate fosters a love of storytelling, performance, and collaboration while supporting students’ social-emotional growth and confidence. This position plays a vital role in the artistic life of the school and in nurturing joyful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children in Kindergarten through Fourth grade.This PreK-Eighth Grade school is known for its intentional approach to challenging and nurturing children as they build confidence, resilience, and joy in learning. At its newly redeveloped campus in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the school welcomes approximately 300 students from throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. It is accredited by the Association of Colorado Independent Schools and a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.Salary The wage rate for this position will include a salary range of $60,000-$70,000 and will be commensurate with experience.This is a full-time position with health, dental, vision, disability insurance and retirement plan offerings.Essential FunctionsTeach performing arts in Kindergarten through Fourth GradeImplement drama curriculum to build skills, foster confidence, and provide exposure to the performing arts in public speaking, dance, movement, improvisation, stage performanceOrganize, instruct, and direct the annual Shakespeare Festival, age-appropriate adaptations of Shakespeare’s well-known plays Attend faculty meetings Supervise children outside the classroom, eg. lunch duty, recess, etc.Collaborate with theater arts faculty to create student musicals and other innovative performancesCollaborate with classroom teachers to develop interdisciplinary lessonsEngage students in traditional and non-traditional performancesCollaborate and work with both co-curricular teachers and homeroom teachers to integrate arts into the project-based curriculumFulfill all other faculty responsibilities that may occur outside the school day, including writing reports and curriculum planningSuccessful Candidates Will HaveAbility to work in a collegial and highly collaborative environmentA love of elementary children and early childhood educationA growth mindset, active sense of humor, warm personality, creative approach, and excellent organizational and communication skillsTeaching experience, preferably in drama Bachelor’s degreeExpectations This is a full-time position that begins in mid-August 2026.. The standard schedule is 7:45am to 3:45pm, with 2 faculty meetings per month until 4:30, although team planning meetings may require additional time. Additionally, all faculty members share daily supervision duties at the school. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required throughout the school year.NOTE: This position requires a pre-employment criminal background check.
