While the role carries director-level responsibility which may include a small fraction of supervision oversight, the role requires a high level of hands-on involvement in programming, outreach, and daily operations. The Director is expected to lead through efforts of actively engaging students through the development and delivery of programs and services that support the campus mission.Department-Specific ResponsibilitiesServes as the Director of Student Affairs for the IU Columbus Campus. Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating student affairs programs and services. Responsible for mental health outreach, cultural student group support and program planning, and the facilitation of student leadership initiatives. Serves as the campus Ombudsperson, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, and a member of the Behavioral Consultation Team.Enhances the student experience at IU Columbus by providing mental health outreach.Serves as a working director by providing hands-on involvement in programming, outreach, and daily operations while strategically planning efforts for Students Affairs that align with campus goals.Serves as Budget Manager - develops and submits budget recommendations (monitors, verifies, reconciles, and approves expenditures from the general fund account associated with the office).Liaises with community partners and career services.Plays an active role in the student experience by collaborating with the design and delivery of new student orientation events, and aim to keep students engaged year-round with events and initiatives.Actively participates in staff meetings, Staff Council, and other professional development opportunities.General ResponsibilitiesDevelops and implements programs and initiatives geared at enhancing and reinforcing the academic engagement and experiential learning capacity of the student experience. Projects programming outcomes at the program, department/division, or campus level.Interfaces directly with students, attending student programming events and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student programming initiatives and objectives.Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student programming goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs.Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student programs against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports on impact to students and budget and presents to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.Serves on committees and performs student programming research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices.Plans and coordinates communications and targeted outreach for student programming initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.May provide guidance to other Student Programming Specialists; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.May serve on various campus or cross-functional committees to share student programming best practices.Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.Since this position supports student-facing activities, any hybrid work arrangement (a combination of remote and in-person work) must be approved by the immediate supervisor and Columbus Leadership and take effect after the probationary period. Employees are expected to maintain a regular on-campus presence and actively participate in campus events, meetings, and collaborative efforts to effectively support the campus mission.This is an in-person position.Columbus, Indiana$60,000 to $66,850.00 annually, based on experience and qualificationsThis is a full-time, exempt position expected to work primarily during regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5: 00 p.m.).Evening and weekend hours are required to support student programs and campus events.This position must be available outside normal business hours to respond to student needs or campus incidents.
