DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:PMD is launching a brand-new Service Department in Victor, NY, and we’re looking for hands-on Field Service Technicians to grow with us.This role is ideal for someone with mechanical, electrical, machine tool, or automation experience who is looking to continue to develop their careers in advanced automation.You’ll work alongside experienced Field Service Engineers, Controls Engineers, and Machine Builders while gaining real-world experience with custom automation equipment across a variety of industries.For the right individual, this role offers a path toward becoming a Field Service Engineer.What You’ll DoYou’ll support both in-house system builds and customer service activities, helping install, debug, and maintain custom automation systems.Assist with installation, startup, and service support at customer sitesSupport machine assembly, debug, and checkout activities in the shopTroubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systemsAssist with PLC, HMI, robotics, motion, and vision systemsSupport FAT and SAT activitiesLearn and develop hands-on experience with advanced automation technologiesTechnical ScopeYou will gain experience working with a wide range of industrial automations technologies and platforms, includingControls & Automation PLC/HMI platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) Industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)Robotics & Vision Industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA) Vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence)Systems Integration Electrical troubleshooting, panel systems, and field wiring Pneumatics and mechanical systems Integration of peripherals and custom equipmentCompensation$27 – $37/hr, based on experience Overtime opportunities 10% pay premium while travelling + per diem) RequirementsWHAT YOU WILL BRING2+ years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, machine tools, automation, service, or related technical fieldsStrong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skillsComfortable using basic tools and diagnostic equipment Willingness to learn controls, robotics, and related automation systems technologiesAbility to work independently and as part of teamComfortable interacting with customers onsite and remotely as neededStrong communication skills both written and verbalWillingness to travel (~10% - 30%)Preferred ExperienceOEM machine build or field service experienceExposure to PLCs, robotics, HMI’s, and/or vision systemsMaintenance or automation technician background
