Job DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Sourcing Intern to support our Mechanical Category team. This internship provides hands-on experience in supplier sourcing, cost analysis, technical evaluation, and supply chain coordination for mechanical components and systems. The intern will work closely with engineering, sourcing, supply chain, quality, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective and technically compliant sourcing solutions. This will be an excellent learning opportunity to develop business and technical skills.
By the end of the internship, the candidate will gain:
Practical exposure to strategic sourcing in the mechanical domain.
Understanding of supplier selection and evaluation processes.
Experience in cost analysis and supply chain coordination.
Cross-functional collaboration experience in an engineering-driven environment.
Project management / Net Savings initiatives
Responsibilities
Essential functions :
Specific duties, activities and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in identifying and evaluating suppliers for mechanical components (machined parts, sheet metal, castings, fasteners, etc.)
Support RFQ (Request for Quotation) processes and cost comparison analysis
Review engineering drawings and technical specifications to ensure supplier capability alignment
Conduct cost breakdown analysis and benchmarking
Support supplier performance tracking (quality, delivery, cost metrics)
Participate in supplier meetings and technical discussions
Help maintain sourcing documentation and procurement databases
Assist in risk assessment and mitigation planning for the mechanical supply base
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve technical or supply issues
QualificationsEducation/Training : Currently pursuing a Bachelor' degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
