Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Shipping and Receiving Clerk at our Piedmont, South Carolina manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for unloading incoming products, performing quality checks on products, pulling product and loading trailers with a forklift.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operational excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain daily communication with the Department Manager, Customer Service and other employees in the department to make sure that all products being shipped meet are loaded accurately and will meet the quality requirements and specifications of the customer. This position will also be required to record and track information in the inventory control system.
Additional Responsibilities of the Shipping and Receiving Clerk include:
Loads and unloads trucks in proper sequence.
Stocks warehouse with incoming inventory.
Pulls outgoing inventory for shipment.
Track inventory levels to ensure proper safety stock levels
Check shipping and receiving tickets
Inspect materials for quality defects and ensure material is stored properly
Label products
Use forklift to load and/or unload trailers as needed
Lockout trailers before loading and unlock once loading is complete
Record and track information in inventory control system
Verify trucks have been loaded properly
Inspect trailers for damage
Run manifest and bills of lading
Handle finish bedding goods up to 75 lbs
Use computers to scan rolls
Maintain a clean, safe and organized workspace
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Skills/ Requirements
High School Diploma or General Education Degree preferred
At least one year manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred
Forklift experience required
Strong attention to detail required
Must be able to use computerized equipment in day-to-day operations and have computer knowledge
Must have basic reading, writing and math skills
Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure
