JOB REQUIREMENTS: Tomah Memorial Hospital EOE POSITION DETAILS Part-timewith benefits; Monday through Friday day shift; Certified RegisteredCentral Service Technician (CRCST) certification on hire or within oneyear of hire required. JOB SUMMARY The Sterile Processing Technicianperforms cleaning, decontamination, packaging, sterilization, storageand delivery of sterile instruments and trays. The Sterile ProcessingTechnician will support all patient care services and is responsible forknowing all the instruments used in the operating room, clinic, andhospital departments. The Sterile Processing Technician will alsoperform appropriate documentation for the sterile processing processes.MAJOR JOB FUNCTION 1. Perform instrument decontamination, processing, &sterilization according to manufacturer\'s instructions for use. 2.Accurately assemble instrument sets/pans to ensure they are complete. 3.Keep track of loaner instruments/implant trials and reprocess thembefore and after the case they are intended for. 4. Maintain knowledgeof current instructions for use (IFU) for proper care and use ofinstruments. 5. Communicate throughout the facility to ensure alldepartments have the instruments needed to perform their job duties. 6.Accurately assemble case carts for upcoming cases. 7. Maintainsterilizer load records. 8. Perform decontamination and reprocessing offlexible endoscopes per manufacturer\'s IFU. 9. Willingly acceptsdelegated tasks and projects from the Nursing Coordinator or SurgicalServices Director. STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR 1. Excellent Verbal Andwritten communication skills. 2. Excellent human relation skills asdemonstrated by the ability to interact positively with all customersand employees. 3. Must have a high energy level with ability to workunder the stress of the operating room atmosphere and exhibit emotionalmaturity, stability and flexibility. 4. Must have proficient computerskills with the ability to operate within a Windows environment. 5.Needs to possess a high level of intelligence, integrity, sense ofresponsibility and ability to comprehend and analyze details. 6. Abilityto operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment. JOBREQUIREMENTS 1. Frequently required to stand, walk and reach with handsand arms. Required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. 2.Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. . Ability torespond appropriately to changing staffing conditions. Demonstratedability to make independent judgments in times of need along with theability to seek guidance and/or support from appropriate resources. 4.Full range of body motion and flexibility is required daily. 5. Goodhearing is necessary to receive detailed information through oralcommunication and to verify visual and audio alarms on machines. WORKINGCONDITIONS Must understand and accept the possibility of exposure toinside environmental conditions, such as infectious/communicablediseases, noise, blood and bloodborne diseases, chemicals and/orchemical fumes, odors, gases, and dusts. Must be able to functioneffectively under stressful situations. Environment is climatecontrolled.
