Markets is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.Job SummaryThe General Merchandise Clerk ("GMC") is accountable for delivering G.O.A.T. (Greet, Observe, Assist, Thank) service to our customers. This position plays a key role in supporting multiple areas of store operations and delivering outstanding customer service; therefore requires a versatile and adaptable individual who can take on a variety of tasks as needed throughout the store. This role consists of front-end responsibilities, including bagging customer purchases, retrieving shopping carts, and helping maintain a smooth and efficient checkout process. In addition, the position involves other responsibilities such as stocking shelves, organizing displays, fulfilling e-commerce shopping orders for customers, and assisting with floral and cut fruit preparation and presentation.Job ResponsibilitiesProvide friendly, helpful service while maintaining a professional demeanor and enhancing the customer's shopping experience (G.O.A.T)Assist with customer questions, locating products, product recommendations, and communicating out-of-stock issues or customer concerns to store managementBag groceries carefully and efficiently, separating items properly; along with offering and helping customers with loading groceries to their vehiclesEnsure shopping carts are regularly gathered from the parking lot and organized at store entrances for customer useOpen boxes to stock, and refill shelves, displays, and end caps with general merchandise itemsFollowing CAO bread procedures for working and writing bread ordersBuild and maintain GMC product displays following store planograms, seasonal guidelines, and store managementBale cardboard regularly and maintain the backroom clean, organized, and free of clutter to ensure a safe and efficient work environmentEnsure correct signage and pricing is visible and accurate, including routine price changesKeep aisles and display areas clean, safe, and free of hazardsReceive online orders, accurately locate and inspect items for damage, defects, or freshness before packing to meet customer expectationsReplace or report unavailable or damaged items promptly along with updating customers on substitutions or delaysPack items properly to avoid damage during transport and label orders clearly for pickupOperate all standard store equipment—such as hand trucks, box cutters, department equipment, etc. safely and efficiently by adhering to established safety protocolsWork collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth department operations and excellent customer experienceRequirements / QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma is preferred but not requiredA valid Food Handler / Health CardAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and responsibilitiesFriendly, helpful attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction and service at all timeAbility to work well within the team and follow direction with a good attitudeExcellent communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with customers and teammatesBasic math and reading skills for handling pricing, labels, equipment, and inventoryGood problem-solving abilities and attention to detailAbility to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weightsAvailable to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysMust maintain a sense of integrity and adhere to all store policies and procedures, including safety standards and the collective bargaining agreementJoin Our Team And Make A DifferenceBe a part of a team that makes a difference in the communities we serve.
