You will be responsible for creating cost-effective, high-quality designs that meet customer specifications and project timelines.This role requires strong proficiency in SolidWorks, strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to translate technical requirements into practical, build-ready solutions. You will work closely with project, manufacturing, and customer teams to ensure designs are accurate, efficient, and support successful machine builds.Location: Lexington, KYEmployment Type: Full TimeDepartment: EngineeringTraining and Travel Requirement: Onboarding for this role requires travel to our Canadian facility. Candidates must be eligible to travel to Canada.ResponsibilitiesDevelop mechanical concepts and create mechanical designs in SolidWorks for automation systems Research and identifying mechanical components for projects ensuring they meet application and customer requirementsProvide guidance and direction to junior design membersCommunicate with suppliers to discuss component specifications, pricing, and lead timeInteract with Project Management team and customer technical contacts to obtain clarification on customer specifications and to obtain customer information/CADPresent concepts/designs at concept reviews, internal design reviews, and at customer design reviewsCreate and assemble detailed drawing packages for the build team, with all necessary tolerance/dimensions, bills of materials, and assembly drawingsDocument information for Customer Manuals: As built Drawing package, BOMs, spare parts lists, maintenance items, and OEM documentationIdentify, troubleshoot and develop solutions to mechanical build issuesSupport the Applications group by developing concepts, calculating cycle time, estimating design labor, and estimating mechanical purchasesDevelop RFQs for major mechanical system purchases and communicate with the supplier(s) involved Work with manufacturing team to review drawing accuracy and identifying ways to optimize the designContinuous development, participation and implementation of BOS Standards for Mechanical DesignWeekly meeting with Mechanical Design group to discuss group initiatives, priorities, workload, address any current issues or inefficiencies within the design group and generate solutions Regular communication with Mechanical Design Group Lead to identify priorities and review status of projectsAttend White Board meetings to present status of design and hear status of other disciplines, as well as get updates on urgent issuesThis posting reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
