Real Estate Audit Partner

We are seeking a proven Audit Partner or senior practice leader to join and help expand a high-performing Real Estate & Alternative Investments DC practice. This individual will play a critical role in leading marquee client relationships, driving business development initiatives, mentoring senior engagement teams, and serving as a strategic advisor to sophisticated commercial real estate and alternative investment clients.The ideal candidate is a market-facing leader with deep technical expertise, strong industry relationships, and a successful track record managing large-scale real estate and asset management engagements within a Big 4 or nationally recognized public accounting firm.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as a lead relationship partner for commercial real estate, real estate fund, REIT, private equity, and alternative investment clientsLead audit and attestation engagements for complex domestic and multi-national organizationsAdvise clients on technical accounting matters involving fair value accounting, investment structures, regulatory compliance, and financial reportingOversee integrated audits for Fortune 500 commercial real estate entities and publicly traded REITsProvide leadership on engagements involving foreign jurisdictions and IFRS-compliant financial statementsDeliver strategic guidance related to GAAP, IFRS, and Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICOFR)Drive practice growth through business development, cross-selling initiatives, and expansion of key client relationshipsMentor and develop Directors, Senior Managers, and future Partner-level talent within the practiceCollaborate closely with executive leadership on market strategy, client acquisition, and operational excellence initiativesPreferred QualificationsActive Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required15+ years of progressive public accounting experience with significant concentration in: Commercial real estate, Real estate funds, Alternative investments, & Asset managementPrevious experience as a Partner, Managing Director, or senior leadership executive within a Big 4 or nationally recognized accounting firmExtensive experience providing audit and attestation services to commercial real estate organizations and real estate fund clientsDeep expertise supporting alternative investment businesses involving fair value accounting, including: Private equity, Fund of funds, & Investment advisorsProven leadership overseeing multi-national integrated audits for Fortune 500 organizations and public REITsDemonstrated success developing executive-level client relationships and originating new business opportunitiesStrong leadership presence with the ability to influence both clients and internal stakeholders
