Overview
We're looking for a skilled Purchasing Specialist to play a key role in supporting our fast-moving building materials operations. In this role, you'll take ownership of sourcing and procuring essential LBM products, optimizing inventory levels, and building strong vendor partnerships. Your expertise will help ensure our customers receive the competitive pricing, reliable supply, and exceptional service they expect. Purchasing Specialist Key Responsibilities
Purchase pressure-treated lumber, siding, weather barriers, exterior trim, hardware, and core consumables.
Maintain vendor relationships to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and consistent product availability.
Monitor market trends, seasonal demand, and inventory levels to guide purchasing decisions.
Issue accurate purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve shipping or quality issues.
Collaborate with sales and yard operations to support customer needs, replenish stock, maintain optimal inventory turns, and eliminate back orders.
Purchasing Specialist Qualifications
Experience in the lumber and building materials industry or construction supply required.
Strong understanding of LBM product categories.
Skilled in negotiation, vendor management, and cost analysis.
Proficiency with ERP or inventory management systems.
Strong communication, organization, and decision-making abilities.
Must successfully complete a drug screening as part of our commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace
