Position: Job Title: GMS Application Engineer (Level I to Senior) - 337 Location: Taylor, TX (Hybrid) Duration: Full-Time (W2 Only) Job SummaryThe GMS Application Engineer - Markets is responsible for supporting the Market Management Systems (MMS) applications portfolio, including Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED), Day-Ahead Market (DAM), Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC), Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR), and QSE Training Simulator. This role involves the design, development, testing, validation, and implementation of modifications and enhancements to the MMS applications. The position will report to the Supervisor/Manager of Grid & Market Solutions (GMS) Applications Engineering - Markets.Key ResponsibilitiesApply principles, theories, and concepts related to the profession and ERCOT’s culture.Exercise judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate actions.Respond to inquiries and provide guidance to lower-level workers when necessary.Perform work in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.Serve as a member of the 24/7 Market Applications Engineering support on-call team.Troubleshoot market applications and system issues.Coordinate application setup and testing with QSEs, LSEs, and REs.Perform MMS model load testing and update real-time model data based on procedures.Design and test MMS interfaces, Web, and Client/Server application changes.Support MMS applications during system failovers, server/system/database upgrades, and patching.Participate in executing disaster recovery drills and business continuity procedures.Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair MMS applications and interfaces.Act as a consultant and subject matter expert in projects affecting MMS environments.Provide on-the-job training or mentorship to engineers/analysts.Participate in multifunctional teams to perform studies and address comments.Collaborate with other departments to select and implement system changes.Assist in developing tools, processes, and procedures to enhance system reliability.Additional Job DutiesProvide support during system failovers, server upgrades, and patching.Represent the Market Applications Engineering Team at interdepartmental and stakeholder meetings.Mentor less experienced engineers or analysts.Work independently on projects and assignments.Experience & QualificationsMinimum Experience: 5+ years of job-related work experience.Preferred Work Experience:Experience with Hitachi ABB or other MMS vendors’ suite of applications.Experience with Data Historians (e.g., OSIsoft PI).Proficiency in programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, C++, Java, Perl, and PL/SQL.EducationRequired: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.Preferred: Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above fields may be considered.Working ConditionsMust be available for on-call support as part of the 24/7 team.Regular participation in cross-functional meetings and disaster recovery drills.DisclaimerThe above job description reflects the essential duties and qualifications necessary for the GMS Application Engineer - Markets role.
