Job OverviewReports to: Chemical Maintenance TechnicianReports to: OHS and Facility ManagerLocation: Kent, WAType: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly)Schedule: 1st Shift; Overtime may be required (extended shifts and/or weekends); On-Call is Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)Job SummaryEmployees in this position are responsible for providing support to the production departments by keeping the process solutions in specification by making chemical additions or bath replacements. This position also maintains environmental compliance by wastewater treatment and proper preparation and storage of hazardous materials for proper off-site disposal.ResponsibilitiesWork closely with experienced Technicians and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.Properly handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials.Accurately measure liquid and solid materials.Perform maintenance on chemical levels in tanks to ensure they remain within spec; this may include adds, splits, etc.Operate pumps in order to perform chemical maintenance on plating and anodize lines.Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move chemicals and hazardous materials.Follow Quality Assurance requirements.Follow safety precautions as trained.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsPre-employment and annual physical exam required; ability to wear a respirator.Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with other employees, Customers, and auditors.Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility.Education/Previous Experience Requirements1-2 years in industrial wastewater treatment and/or manufacturing environment a plus.2-5 years of hazardous materials, industrial wastewater treatment, waste and wastewater treatment handling preferred, but not required.HAZWOPER Certification Preferred, But Not Required.Essential Mental/Physical DemandsAbility to lift occasionally: (floor to waist) 119 lbs., (floor to overhead) 31 lbs.Ability to carry 55 lbs. occasionallyAbility to push/pull 100 lbs. occasionallyAbility to stand and walk frequentlyAbility to sit occasionallyAbility to reach overhead occasionallyAbility to reach from shoulder and waist frequentlyAbility to reach from knee and to floor occasionallyAbility to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, crawl occasionallyAbility to climb stairs and ladders occasionallyAbility to push/pull frequentlyAbility to pivot and pinch occasionallyAbility to grasp frequentlyAbility to see/hear/feel constantlyHearing protection required when working in the area.
