Cloud Systems Engineer, Retail Engineering and Operations

DESCRIPTION The Retail Infrastructure Services team within Amazon Worldwide Grocery Store Tech is seeking an experienced Systems Development Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our secure cloud-based accounts and infrastructure, while ensuring a high level of security compliance and operational excellence. You will be working with our partner teams including TPS\TPRM, Legal, and Security. This role requires hands-on engineering to drive our cloud security initiatives and architecture needs as well as tracking any security issues to completion. Soft Skills: Project management capabilities Strong communication and documentation Cross-team collaboration Problem-solving and analytical thinking Key job responsibilities Building and securing large-scale distributed systems Leading security initiatives and architectural decisions Managing incident response and security operations Automating security controls and compliance checks Security Engineering and architecture Data flow and architecture diagrams Deep understanding of networking, TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS CI/CD pipeline design and implementation Security-Specific Skills: Cloud security architecture and implementation Setting up Identity and Access Management (IAM) profiles and roles Network security and data flow Threat modeling and security risk assessment Incident response and security operations BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 4+ years of contributing to automation for new and current system experience Experience coding, scripting, automating in at least one language (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, Ruby, or PowerShell) Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering Knowledge of hardware platforms PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with TCP/ICP networking fundamentals and application of IP protocols such as: DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, and SNMP Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
