Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies

OverviewCentre College invites applications for a 1 Year Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies to join our interdisciplinary program in August 2026. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who are committed to undergraduate education, will contribute to the depth of our faculty, support our flourishing student body, and utilize a variety of pedagogical practices. The College strives to create an environment where differences are celebrated and where individuals can exchange ideas and share in the richness of mutual experiences.The position seeks candidates who address environmental challenges through an interdisciplinary lens, combining field, laboratory, and/or computational methods, and who specialize in Sustainability Science, Climate or Atmospheric Science, Environmental Quality, Remediation, & Risk, or a related field. Qualified candidates must be ABD or hold a Ph.D. in Environmental Science or a related field by the time of appointment. The successful candidate will be qualified and enthusiastic to teach Introduction to Environmental Science (with Lab) in addition to a variety of courses in their area of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates who could also teach Introduction to Environmental Studies.ResponsibilitiesTeach Introduction to Environmental Science (with Lab) and a range of courses in the candidate's area of expertise.Engage in undergraduate education with emphasis on effective teaching methods and student mentorship.Contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration, global study, and service to the college and broader society.QualificationsABD or Ph.D. in Environmental Science or a related field by the time of appointment.About Centre College and CommunityCentre College is a highly selective liberal arts college of about 1,400 students with one of the nation's premier study abroad programs.
