Everforth ECS is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work onsite in the Naval offices in Norfolk, VA. This position plays a critical role in supporting large-scale Department of if the Navy network modernization initiatives focused on transforming legacy infrastructure into secure, scalable, and cloud-ready network architectures. This role supports classified and sensitive network infrastructure, including routing, switching, firewalls, encryption devices, network monitoring, connectivity, address management, traffic routing, lab validation, and operational sustainment.This position requires collaboration with US Navy and Department of War stakeholders, systems integrators, and cross-functional technical teams to design, implement, and maintain enterprise network solutions that meet strict federal security requirements and compliance standards. The successful candidate will contribute to the migration of mission-critical systems while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing Naval operations and maintaining the highest levels of cybersecurity and data protection.Note: To be considered candidates must possess a current and active Secret-level Security Clearance granted by the DoD / Department of War.Position Duties & Responsibilities:Planning: Conducts short and long-term planning to meet network requirementsNetwork System Design and Implementation: Designs and implements network systemsStrong working familiarity with F5 Networks, Juniper JUNOS and/or Cisco IOS with hands-on experience configuring routers, switches, load balancers, and firewallsNetwork Connectivity: Provides support for network connectivity or related network issues for the user communityNetwork Installation: Plans and monitors the installation of network systemsNetwork Monitoring: Analyzes network activity and network problems to discover and prevent systematic errors. Recommends network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performanceIssue Resolution: Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves network problems. Researches, analyzes and recommends the implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify any network deficiencies or to enhance network performanceCapacity Planning: Analyzes facilities bandwidth requirements and system interdependencies. Develops capacity planning modelsDisaster Recovery: Ensures planned testing activities are performed and technical criteria are metNetwork Performance Assessment: Assesses network performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the business. Provides network planning recommendations to managementVendor Management: Evaluates services provided by vendors and recommends changesKnowledge of Enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as Splunk, Solarwinds, Wireshark, Websense, MRTG and NMAPKnowledge of commercial enterprise-level tools and products to provide network services, including: firewalls, IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, VPN, and NACAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with SAWS staff and the general publicRequires excellent verbal and written communication skillsGreat people an communication skills are a mustPerforms related duties and fulfills responsibilities as requiredRequired Skills & Background:8+ years minimum network engineering experience4+ years experience with technical work in a DoD / DoW environment4+ years experience in an enterprise network environment with both administration and problem resolution of F5, Juniper and/or Cisco solutions requiredKnowledge of ITIL processes and experience adhering to them in a production environmentKnowledge of DoD standards and compliance (ie STIGs, Retina report output)Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Juniper Network Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS), F5 Certified Administrator -Security+ certification per DoD 8570 policy complianceDesired Skills:Knowledge of Cisco SRND/SAFE and industry best practicesKnowledge of Linux/Unix and Redhat AnsibleFamiliarity with network, server, storage virtualization, i.e. MDS switching infrastructure, VSAN, VRF, VPN, and VMWare vSphereExperience with Juniper products to include: M/MX-series, EX, and SRXExperience with Cisco enterprise grade products to include: Nexus 7000, 6500, 4500, ISR G2, ISR, ASA, IPS/IDS, TACACS+, and RadiusAdvanced knowledge of IOS, JUNOS, NX-OS, MPLS, BGP, GRE, IPSec VPN, and OSPF.ECS Federal LLC is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate or allow discrimination on the basis any characteristic protected by law.
