Executive Assistant/Bookkeeper

We are hiring one person to sit at the center of a father-and-son land development and real estate investing and management business: an executive assistant with a strong bookkeeping/accounting background, paid $75,000 to $100,000 a year. You will keep our books and calendars, run errands, handle and maintain our personal affairs, and interface with our CPA, financial planner, business entities/employees, and lawyers, based in the Willis / Conroe / The Woodlands area. Who we are: Our company has developed land and managed real estate assets for more than four decades. Today we operate large acreage communities north of Houston alongside investment and other ventures. This position reports directly to the two of us. What the work looks like: - Keep the books across several entities and our personal accounts: bill pay, expense tracking, reconciliations, budget upkeep, and clean quarterly handoffs to our CPA - Guard two calendars, book travel and functions, and schedule around busy weeks - Run down answers for us: vendors, pricing, properties, whatever question the day produces - Shop and maintain insurance on properties and vehicles - Handle errands in person (banks, title companies, county offices), mileage reimbursed - Take meeting notes and chase follow-up items to completion - Participate on the occasional land sales weekend when the team needs admin help Pay, structure, and location: - $80,000 to $100,000 per year; placement in the range depends on experience - Raises are earned and real, and we intend to grow this role over time - Full-time, in person/hybrid remote, Willis / Conroe / The Woodlands corridor, daily local driving - 90-day introductory period, then annual reviews - Includes a monthly health benefit toward the plan you choose You, probably: - Three or more years keeping books for a business (required), with executive assistant, office management, and/or operations experience - Fluent in at least one mainstream accounting platform (QuickBooks or similar) and sharp in Excel - AI runs through this job: we use it daily and inventively to stretch what one person can produce, and the seat designed with this type of leverage in mind. Candidates already skilled with it start ahead; anyone who isn't needs the drive and ability to close the gap fast (with our mentorship and self study) - Self-directed, discreet, intelligent, and unbothered by tasks that swing between small and large in the same day - Valid driver's license, clean record, reliable vehicle What this job is not: - A front desk or receptionist position - Fully remote - A landing spot between other plans; we are hiring for the long term The trust part: This person will touch money and private information, so the vetting is thorough: background check, credit check with your written consent, reference calls we will make ourselves, and a confidentiality agreement at offer.
