Maintenance Technician - Heat Treating FacilityPosition SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of heat treating furnaces, industrial machinery, and facility equipment. This role supports safe, efficient, and continuous operation within a heat treatment manufacturing environment, minimizing downtime and ensuring equipment reliability across all shifts.Key Responsibilities and DutiesPerform visual inspections of heat treating furnaces, industrial machinery, and production equipment to ensure proper operationTroubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance TechniciansPerform corrective maintenance and equipment repairs, including replacing defective components and rebuilding worn partsConduct preventive maintenance by cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, chains, and moving mechanical componentsInstall, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including transformers, electrical panels, wiring, and electronic components of industrial equipmentAssemble, install, and maintain piping systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systemsRepair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related furnace componentsSafely perform repairs using hand tools, measuring instruments, band saws, cutting tools, and grinding equipment in accordance with work instructions and equipment manualsInspect and service equipment using forklifts and aerial lifts when requiredRepair and maintain facility structures, including walls, floors, and support systemsMaintain and repair racking fixtures, furnace trays, and heat treat toolingClean and maintain parts washers according to the preventive maintenance (PM) scheduleRepair heat treat furnaces and supporting equipment in a timely manner to prevent unplanned downtime and production delaysMaintain accurate maintenance records and documentationFollow OSHA safety standards and plant safety procedures at all timesRequired QualificationsMinimum 1 year of maintenance training or related industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a heat treating or manufacturing environmentWelding and/or industrial electrical knowledge requiredAbility to complete required training and obtain forklift and aerial lift certification within 90 days of hireAbility to read and interpret technical documents, procedure manuals, blueprints, and safety literatureStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write routine reports and maintenance documentationStrong organizational skills with a sense of urgency and the ability to work independently and as part of a teamBasic to intermediate math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimalsAbility to read and interpret graphs, charts, and dataWillingness and flexibility to work different shifts, including nights or weekends as neededPreferred Skills and ExperienceExperience with industrial furnaces, heat treating equipment, and thermal processing systemsKnowledge of preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systemsFamiliarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical maintenanceStrong commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement
