Job Title: Chemical Handler
Pay Rate: $21 to $25.2/Hr
Duration: 3 Months
Location: Chatham, VA
Shift - 3rd Shift - 7 PM to 7 AM (2 Days on, 2 days off includes weekends)
Overview:
Reports directly to the Production Manager, and indirectly to the Shift Lead.
Perform specific field duties and assist operations in the Monomer and Oligomer Plants.
Responsibilities:
Properly label containers, then package finished monomer and oligomer products in either drums or totes.
Charge raw materials to reactions for monomer and/or oligomer as directed by Shift Lead.
Assist in other operations in the plant as directed.
In the event of a plant emergency, participate in the emergency response as directed, and be a member of the ERT.
When necessary, assist with the training of new drummers.
Take samples as directed by the board operator for testing.
Perform minor maintenance on equipment as required.
Actively participate in the plant CARE program
Report any HES incidents and, as appropriate, participate in incident investigations.
Work environment:
Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
Participates in HES activities provided by site management and client Inc. (e.g., CARE, SWAT, etc)
Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident, or injury incidents
Manufacturing environment with chemical, physical, ergonomic, and electrical hazards.
Work includes a variety of physical and biological conditions including, but not limited to, proximity to moving mechanical parts and powered industrial trucks, exposure to hot work or steam, working at heights, working with sharp tools, and exposure to slip hazards and wet areas.
Work is primarily performed in the manufacturing complex; however, workers are subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
Worker is subject to atmospheric conditions, including, but not limited to, exposure to dust, chemicals, and odors.
Works with or around hazardous substances.
Work requires the use of protective clothing and equipment.
Scheduled hours may vary in shifts and length.
The noise level in the work environment is below the OSHA permissible exposure limits.
Requirement:
Minimum high school graduate or General Equivalency Diploma
1-2 years manufacturing experience preferred
Strong commitment to safety
Teamwork and cooperation: readily share information and knowledge.
